Planning your safari around Public Holidays

Kruger Park is busy over South African public holidays and Main Camps experience high occupancy. Visitors are advised to book early for Christmas, New Year, Easter, Freedom Day 27 April, National Women's Day on 09 August and Heritage Day on 24 September.

The Park is also popular for familes during winter School holidays which take place in June for approximately 3 weeks. Generally the dry season in Kruger ( from May until late September ) is considered a good time for game viewing although other seasons all have attractions and Kruger never closes. We can accept reservations up to 12 months in advance.

* The dates on which Good Friday and Easter Sunday fall are determined according to the ecclesiastical moon. That varies each year but they fall at some point between late March and late April.

**The Public Holidays Act (Act No 36 of 1994 [PDF]) determines whenever any public holiday falls on a Sunday, the Monday following on it shall be a public holiday.
