Sunday tour to Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre and lunch

Venue - Established in 1971 & originally known as the De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre, the name was changed in 2010, to the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre as a tribute to the woman who devoted her life to the survival of cheetahs & other rare & endangered species. The Centre prides itself in its contribution to the conservation & meticulous breeding (ensuring genetic diversity) & the ability to release captive born cheetahs as & when suitable space becomes available.

Our Groups: South African families or a few friends

Transport: 7 seater aircon microbus with opening windows.

Guide: professional Driver/Guide specialising in ecotourism.

Departure time: 06.00 – 06.30 as arranged from your home & return late afternoon

Health protocols: vehicle to be sanitised before collection, passenger's contact details will be recorded, face masks to be worn & hands sanitised.

Price: R 1,900 includes hire of vehicle, services of your Driver / Guide & bottled water. So for a family of 4, the basic price is R475 per person.

For own cost: Entrance for 2.5 hour guided tour is additional R450 per adult, R350 per child under 12 years or R300 per pensioner.

Lunch: we suggest the Windmill Restaurant, 1 Jan Smuts Road, Meerhof. Apart from the restaurant, it's a popular outdoor venue on weekends where you can buy fresh farm produce, browse in the book shop, look at the Sunday markets or relax in the coffee shop. Lunch is for your own cost but its moderately priced.

Itinerary

Early departure & travel to Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre near Hartbeespoort to join the Cheetah Run and Guided Tour commencing at 08.00. This tour afford guests the opportunity to experience the thrill of watching a cheetah run at high speed which is an excellent photographic opportunity. Guests will then board the open game viewer accompanied by a site Guide to enter the cheetah & wild dog enclosures & then learn about vultures, hyena & caracal. Following the tour, visit the Curio Shop, take some photos & depart for lunch. Drive to the Windmill outdoor centre ( described above ) to enjoy lunch & a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Meet your guide for the return journey arriving back home by late afternoon.
